Colin Harper Architect is a young and growing, design focused studio based in Victoria, BC. Our current projects include retail T.I., large scale commercial renovation, custom single-family home, infill housing, townhome, and mid-rise multi-family housing. The firm intentionally avoids specialization, instead, we seek clients with a shared goal of making unique and meaningful contemporary architecture.

Job Description:

We are seeking to fill an Intern Architect / Intermediate Technologist level position with a candidate with 5+ years of local or Canadian experience. Other candidates will be considered.

This position is for an individual who is interested in working in a creative, design focused studio. As part of a growing firm, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on as much responsibility and ownership as they are interested in and capable of. You will work directly alongside principal Colin Harper.

The successful candidate will have the following skills/attributes:
– Proficient in and able to prepare working drawings with little supervision;
– Construction Administration experience;
– Have an interest in and ability to maintain design intent through CD and CA phases;
– Excellent problem solving and organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines and time;
– Experience in low and mid-rise wood frame multi-family projects;
– Strong understanding of BCBC;
– Experience reviewing land-use regulations;
– Experience preparing Rezoning and Development Permits;
– Highly proficient in AutoCAD and Revit
– Proficient in Sketchup

The following skills/attributes while not mandatory are an asset:
– Experience in running/leading projects and coordinating consultant teams and internal project teams;
– Ability to prepare presentation drawings and packages;
– Adobe CS and Microsoft Office;
– Model making; and
– Experience working with clients, contractors and municipalities.

Must be registered with the AIBC or eligible to register with the AIBC.
